With an integrated freesat feature, you can access all sorts of radio and television channels at no cost, depending in what country you live. No set-top box is required and the KDL-46W5810 is cable-free. This is no ordinary LCD television! The clarity and sharpness will take your breath away, and the word ‘blur’ doesn’t even feature in the KDL-46W5810’s vocabulary!

Let’s discuss some of this TV’s main features. The high definition resolution is a whopping 1920×1080 pixels. ‘Motionflow 100Hz’ should be activated when you’re watching an action movie or a sports game. Then add ‘Image Blur’ to avoid any blurring. The innovative ‘Bravia Engine 3′ will provide the best colours, optimum clarity and perfect contrast.

You’ll have to search long and hard to find another TV that gives truer colours than Sony’s KDL-46W5810. The ‘Live Color’ feature will ensure this. And if you’re watching a horror movie, the ‘Advanced Contrast Enhancer’ will add to the drama by increasing the impact of all those frightening, dark and scary scenes! ‘Scene Select’ option enables you to alter the picture settings and sound while you’re viewing.

Get a load of this! The Sony KDL-46W5810 has a mind-blowing feature called ‘24p True Cinema’. Believe it or not, this actually produces sound quality and picture quality that is used when shooting films for the big-screen. While the KDL-46W5810 is idle, it can be used as an eye-catching picture frame – just load your favourite images and click ‘Picture Frame Mode’,

Sony’s innovative S-Force technology enables the front speakers to deliver digital surround sound like you’ve never heard before! Just as impressive is the ‘Voice Volume’ control which lets you alter voice volume while still keeping the background volume the same. The ‘Applicast TM’ feature on the KDL-46W5810 even allows access to the internet.

In the looks department, the KDL-46W5810 is a stunner. With its slim, elegant design and beautiful sleek looks, this television will enhance the decor of any home. You can position your Sony KDL-46W5810 perfectly with the ‘Swivel’ button. You can also access cable TV with its digital ‘cable tuner’. (Not available in some countries).

Sony has become a major contributor in the global quest to preserve the environment. Like all other Sony products, the KDL-46W5810 has a number of energy saving functions on the ‘Eco Settings’ menu. For example, if the set has not been used for a particular period of time, the ‘Idle TV’ function can be used. And if you’re viewing in a room with dim lighting, the ‘Power Saving’ feature will automatically adjust the TV’s brightness.

Sony’s eco-friendly policy extends into the manufacturing process. All packaging is made from recyclable materials that comply with global recycling regulations. None of the parts used in the manufacture of Sony products contain halogen.

The Sony Bravia KDL46W5810 is also called the Sony Bravia KDL46W5810U. It is an LCD television that not only offers outstanding picture quality, but also a ton of the latest features, such as web capability and video streaming.

Sony leads the field by including the latest and best features in its products. And the Bravia KDL46W5810 has a host of them. Media files can be streamed from a PC via an ethernet port. And internet access is included. This is via Sony’s Net Application and offers access via an expanding offering of over 30 widgets.

Although these features are useful, its the screen that’s the most important aspect of a TV. And the viewing available on the 46W5810 does not disappoint, even taking account of the high expectations of a Sony TV. The depth, colour quality and details are outstanding, with an overall natural looking effect. High definition picture quality is stunning.

The built in speakers only provide an average sound quality. This is to be expected of flat screen TVs, as the case doesn’t have sufficient depth. Low frequencies lack some clarity, whilst higher frequencies sound over processed. If you would like superior sound quality, then analogue stereo and digital optical outputs are available to connect external speakers.

In addition to the audio connections, the KDL46W5810 has a range of connections including 4 HDMI sockets, 2 Scart RGB sockets, an analogue VGA port and USB port to link to your PC, and a headphone socket with an independent volume control that can be controlled by the remote.

Usability is very good.

The Electronic Programme Guide is readily navigated, although somewhat difficult to read on occasions. The remote is comprehensive, although it could be laid out slightly better.

There is an instruction manual available on-screen that includes the Bravia’s features, together with some tips.

One of its features which is particularly useful is a Voice Zoom feature that increases the speech volume where the background music makes it difficult to hear sometimes. Very useful for some US movies! And it also has Audio Description – a narrative for those with a visual impairment.

The model is energy efficient, with an energy consumption of just 110 watts – low for such a TV. And it can be reduced to 60 watts with an energy saving button. An ambient light sensor cuts power in low light conditions. And the screen can readily be turned off whilst listening to the radio.

To summarise, despite only average audio output, there are useful extra features, and, what makes this TV such a great buy is the outstanding picture quality.

The Sony Bravia 46W5810U is an outstanding TV.
